hey all,
I try to post regularly on my journey towards 2 upcoming marathons I intend to run in early 2025. If both successful I would have ran 4 marathons within 1 year.
With the training schedule I follow, most of my runs are slow. They intend to train the heart muscles rather than your legs. From time to time there are more fun training runs, where you can run at a faster pace.
Today I ran a 21.1 km - marathon pace run. Which means running at the pace I would normally aim to run a full marathon in.
Covid
After my October marathon I caught Covid (again) this reflected and is still reflecting in my heart rate. As it a lot higher compared to what it should be.
Ofcourse there is a good balance between activities and resting, and this balance is even more important when you are recovering, but don’t let it stop you!
I adjust my pace a bit, speed work becomes recovery run. But sometimes you should just try and see how you are holding up.
fuel
Today ran on empty stomach, drank 2 coffee plus a little water. No fuel during the run.
Rehydrated right after the run and will drink extra water the next few hours.
weather
Perfect weather for running. A bit cold with 5 C but clear air, sun and not slippery.
music
Fast pace = fast music!
Running techno at 182 bpm works like a charm!
PR
My HM pr is 1:31:26 so my run today didn’t come close, but after Rotterdam 2025 i am going to try to get a sub 1:30 pr.
Happy #Running
