Taper!
With less than 2 weeks before my beach marathon, I started my taper weeks to allow my body to recover a bit. Where I did a total of 72km last week, I aim to stay below 50 km this week… which might be a challenge as I am also coaching a friend to run his first marathon in April - in 2 days I will help him break a distance longer than a half marathon for the first time… so if we get that done I would settle for max 60 km!
Injuries
I feel no real Injuries, but did get a fresh blister last Sunday. Tomorrow I will do some epson footbath to speed the recovery there!
Knees and ankles are feeling strong. So I feel ready!
Today’s run
What i love about taper weeks is that the hard work is already done, so rather than specific workouts (interval / tempo / zone 2) I just try to use these weeks to have fun and pick a pace that feels good for that run.
Today it was cold and rainy, but I also had a busy working day so I really felt like taking some time for myself and go for a run.
The run itself felt good, I was able to maintain a decent pace and relax during the run. Running in the dark is soothing even when it is raining, the only downside when running in the countryside is that you do not see where you place your feet - so I stepped in 2 pools of water today getting my feet all wet (but that is oke especially on a shorter distance like today).
Happy running!
