This is my post for freewriters 2619 prompt space vessel hosted by @mariannewest

Yesterday my husband cut up all of the apples I got from the food pantry, all but one bag, I saved it for Rudy. He loves apples.

10 o'clock last night I put the apples in two crockpots with sugar and cinnamon and let them cook on low all night. The recipe called for ground cloves but I do not have any. If I cook them for 10 hours, I do not need to peel them.

After it cooked the 10 hours I put them in the blender on puree and returned it to the crockpot I added a little vanilla and cooked for another two hours or to the consistency I wanted, it was more like 2 and 1/2 hours.

It made 4 pint jars and 3 half-pints. It came out perfect, and the taste is better than any store-bought I've ever had.

I had too many apples for the crockpots to hold so I have another batch cooking tonight and tomorrow I get to start the whole process over again.

I thought the leftover apples would fit in one crockpot, but there was too much for one and too little to let cook overnight in the other crockpot.

I thought I would try my daughter's rice cooker, it is a small space vessel and perfect for the amount of apples I had left. The instructions said it is also a slow cooker. I set it on low but after 3 hours they were barely warm. I tried and my husband tried to set it on medium or high but neither of us could get it off of low. We even tried unplugging it and starting over, but nothing worked. (My husband even read the directions.) I put them in the refrigerator and started them over this morning in the regular crockpot maybe I can keep an eye on them so they do not burn.

I am very sad to say, that my friend who had a stroke while fishing has passed away, please keep his family in your prayers.
