My Vintage Star Wars Collection

in #hive-1736305 months ago

Since mounting my display stands, and helmets on the wall of my office, I haven't had a chance to take pictures of them or show them off, in good lighting.

The night I got everything mounted, I took some pictures, but I don't actually have a main light in here, yet, so I wasn't able to take any clear photos.

Here is a picture of the display cases, and the helmets.

It's a fairly impressive-looking setup.

I had to paint one of the display cases because the black and white ones were out of stock. It was a pain, and I am yet to do the shelves, but once they're white, it'll look much better.

The helmets are Black Series, and Kaleb is a little bit afraid of them, or at least he had been.

He started crying when I showed him them, especially Darth Vader. He runs to the office and slows down as he gets to the doorway, and cautiously pokes his head in to look at them. It's actually really funny, but now when I am holding him, he reaches up and touches them. Although, he does so gently, and quickly takes his hand back as he makes contact.

Here's the left display case, so you can get a better look at them.

I'm well on my way to having the entire set, there are 77 in total, not including any variants. Also, there are the final 17, who came out in 1985, which I'd like to collect too. Those can be a pretty expensive, so while there may be less, it may take a while to gather them all.

Here is the right display case.

This side is a bit emptier than the other, but I'm hoping to change that soon.

I want to shift some of the gear I've picked up recently, which is currently cluttering my space, and I'll be taking some of that profit and putting it into these figures.

I'm slowly pushing toward collecting them though, regardless of any of that.

Here are two new additions, side by side.

Kaleb got me the AT-ST Driver and the Cloud Car Pilot.

I'll admit, I never liked the look of the Cloud Car Pilot, I think he looks a bit goofy, but for the sake of the set, I had to add him to the collection.

It happened that both of these figures were being sold by a guy on eBay, based in Ireland, which was cool, and the main reason for going for these two.

Some figures are pretty damaged.

None are broken, but R2 has lost a lot of his decal. I don't mind too much, but I'll be looking to replace him with a cleaner one, once I get the set finished.

Most of them are in good nick though, especially considering their age.

A bunch have their weapons and accessories.

My focus will be gathering all of this stuff, and completing individual figures once I have the entire set. In some cases, you're looking to turn €15 into €50, depending on condition, and whether or not the figure is complete.

More so than value though, I just think it would make the collection much more impressive to see them all complete.

I've been told that these days, even good reproduction weapons can be expensive, and to be honest, original would be better, but I have no problem with repro. I don't intend on selling them, or anything, so it doesn't bother me.

I have a few in their original packaging, which I would like to display along the sides of the display stand, or maybe below it, which I think would look fairly cool.

Boxed, I have, The Rancor Keeper, Squid Head, Nikto, and an Imperial Royal Guard. There is a Jawa in a local collectables shop going for €500, which I would really like to pick up.

I've had most of these since I was a kid, but the vast majority, I've picked up over the years.

I have a lot of doubles, and in some cases, triples, and since my cousin is a big Star Wars fan, I'm thinking of passing him a bundle of stuff to get his own collection started.

I don't have many, but I can give him a good 6-7 of them, which would be a nice start.

Sort:

This is a great set. I bet it is inspiring to have them around, given that each has a background story in the Star Wars mythos. I gotta up my collectible game. My miniature set consists of Papa Smurf, Dr. Who, and some little devil. 😌

It's really inspiring man, being able to have a space dedicated to this stuff is sick. I have other stuff too, but I'm walking a thin line between too much, and too little. I don't want to put everything up on display, because it could easily become cluttered.

That's pretty cool man, I think having collections of stuff is great, even just for the inspiration side of things.

That's a nice collection. I don't blame Kaleb for finding the helmets scary, but I bet he will be into the films in a few years and think his dad is cool.

I wish I'd kept more of my toys. I have a few cars and other bits. I just didn't get into the Star Wars stuff when it came out even though I loved the films. I must have been spending my pocket money on other things.

Here's hoping man, unless of course, he gets more into Star Trek and thinks that I'm a looser haha

No doubt he'll be taking them down from the display in a couple of years to play with them, which I won't be opposed to, so long as he isn't destructive that is. It'll essentially be his college fund, so how well he looks after them, determines what kind of college he gets to go to.

It's possible to like Wars and Trek :) Maybe he'll go down the fantasy route instead and be into orcs etc.

I'd Kaleb running around already ? It's seem like it wasn't that long ago you were writing about him being born!

How's the eBay shop going?

The eBay shop os doing good, I've sold 2 games so far, and with that, have earned about €50, I'm still uploading listings and just going at it slowly. I have some new things to upload which I picked up recently, too. So, kind of moving awag from just games.

It's insane, to be honest, it feels like just yesterday he was born. I have no idea where the time is going.

@tipu curate

Nice collection dude!

Thanks man, I'm really happy with how it's coming along.

Nice collection!!! I used to have some of those as well, but gave them all to a friend of mine who was a collector. Except for R2-D2, I always loved that one ;-)

Oh, that's pretty cool. I've been collecting this stuff for a while, and it's one of the only things I actively collect. I've fallen into a few things here and there, but tend to not go all in. The main reason I like to collect these figures is, that even by having them all, it wouldn't take up a ridiculous amount of space.

True! Quite a difference from collecting Mercedeses 😂 I collect guitars and old cameras. But there in both cases I ran into two problems: not enough space, and not enough money 😂
