As you know, I took my siblings around during the semester break. Istanbul is a very complicated and crowded city. Since I have just started to live in Istanbul, I was only able to show my brothers and sisters the places that my husband took me around.
On the days we travelled with my brothers, we devoted one day to Fatih and Eminön. We tried to visit as many places as we could because we had little time to visit. We planned to visit Gülhane park, Hagia Sophia mosque, Sultan Ahmet mosque, Basilica cistern and Topkapi palace in Fatih. Besides these, there were museums, but we could not visit because we did not have time. We started our planned trip with the thought that we would come later.

Bildiğiniz gibi sömestr tatilinde kardeşlerimi gezdirmiştim. İstanbul çok karmaşık ve kalabalık bir şehir. Bende istabulda yeni yaşamaya başladığım için sadece eşimin beni gezdirdiği yerleri kardeşlerime gezdirebildim.
Kardeşlerimle gezdiğimiz günlerde bir günümüzü Fatih ve Eminönüne ayırdık. Vaktimiz az gezilecek yerler çok olduğu için gezebildiğimiz kadar yer gezmeye çalıştık. Fatihte Gülhane parkı, Ayasofya cami, Sultan Ahmet cami, Yerebatan sarnıcı ve Topkapı sarayını gezmeyi planladık. Bunların yanında müzelerde bulunuyordu ama vaktimiz olmadığı için gezemedik. Daha sonra geliriz düşüncesiyle planladığımız gezimize başladık.
Firstly, we wanted to start from Hagia Sophia mosque. However, there was a long queue at Hagia Sophia and the entrances were not opened. So we decided to visit the Sultan Ahmet mosque, which is opposite the Hagia Sophia, until the queue decreased. On the way here, the fountain attracted my attention. I had been here twice before but I had never noticed it. I attribute the reason for this to the fact that it was very crowded. When I came before, it was very crowded and I had difficulty walking. Since we came this time in the morning, there was almost no one compared to the previous crowd.
İlk olarak Ayasofya caminden başlamak istedik. Ancak Ayasofyada çok sıra var ve içeriye girişler açılmamıştı. Bu yüzden sıra azalana kadar Ayasofya'nın karşısında bulunan Sultan Ahmet camiye gezmeye karar verdik. Buradan giderken şadırvan dikaktimi çekti. Daha önce iki kere gelmiştim buraya ama hiç farkına varmamıştım. Bunun nedenini de çok kalabalık olmasına bağlıyorum. Daha önce geldiğimde çok kalabalık, yürümekte zorlanmıştım. Bu sefer sabah saatinde geldiğimiz için önceki kalabalığa göre kimse yok denecek kadar azdı.
We visited Sultan Ahmet mosque. In the courtyard of Sultan Ahmet mosque, a tourist father and his daughter attracted my attention. The father tied his daughter to his arm so that she wouldn't get lost. They looked very sweet. After completing our visit here, we went to Hagia Sophia mosque. There was a queue but it was moving fast. After 10 minutes we passed through security and went inside. I had been here twice before and this time I admired it as if I had never seen it before. My brothers were also under the influence of Hagia Sophia for a while. Topkapi palace was right next to the Hagia Sophia mosque, so we didn't have to walk far. Thus, we saved time. Topkapi palace was very crowded. We left Topkapi palace to visit the Basilica cistern. Since there was a long queue at the Basilica cistern, we didn't enter it because we thought we would waste time. After here we were going to Eminön. We went by tram to save time.
Sultan Ahmet camiyi gezdik. Sultan Ahmet caminin avlusunda turist olan baba ve kızı dikkatimi çekti. Baba kızını kaybolmasın diye koluna bağlamıştı. Çok tatlı duruyorlardı. Burada gezimizi tamamladıktan sonra Ayasofya camiye geçtik. Sıra vardı ama hızlı ilerliyordu. 10 dakika sonra güvenlikten geçtik ve içeri girdik. Daha önce iki kere gelmiştim. Bu sefer de burayı hiç görmemiş gibi hayranlıkla seyrettim. Kardeşlerim de bir süre Ayasofya'nın etkisinde kaldı. Ayasofya'ya hayranlık duyarak buradan ayrıldık. Topkapı sarayı Ayasofya caminin hemen yanında bulunuyordu, çok yürümemize gerek kalmadı. Böylece vakitten de tasarruf etmiş olduk. Topkapı sarayı çok kalabalıktı. Burayı da hızlıca gezdik. Yerebatan sarnıcı gezmek için Topkapı sarayından ayrıldık. Yerebatan sarnıcında çok sıra olduğu için vakit kaybederiz düşüncesiyle girmedik. Buradan sonra Eminönüne gidecektik. Vakit kazanmak için tramvayla gittik.
After getting off the tram, we passed through the underpass and went to the new mosque. I had passed by this mosque many times, but I had never been inside. We wanted to enter the mosque both to worship and to visit the inside. When we entered the mosque, they told us that since it was time for prayer, we should enter the women's section not from the inside, but from the small door right next to the entrance door.
Tramvayda indikten sonra alt geçitten geçerek Yeni camiye geçtik. Bu caminin önünden çok defa geçmiştim ama hiç içeriye girmedim. Hem ibadet etmek hem de içeriyi gezmek için camiye girmek istedik. Camiye girdiğimizde namaz vakti olduğu için kadınların bölümüne iç kısımdan değil de giriş kapısının hemen yanında küçük kapıdan girmemiz gerektiğini söylediler.
We opened the door, and it was like a cellar. And it was tiny. One person could barely fit in. We hesitated whether to enter or not, we thought it was the wrong door. It also seemed very scary 🙂 When another person said, "Yes, you will come out from there," we entered a little hesitantly. I really didn't expect such a thing. It was like going up to the minaret of a mosque. The staircase was going up round and round. The people coming from upstairs waited for us to come out. As I said, two people could never fit. Finally I saw the daylight and I was relieved. When we climbed up these narrow spiralling stairs, there was a balcony upstairs. We went up there. The view was very beautiful. The Bosphorus view and tram stops, ferry station, famous fish and bread places were under their feet. After looking at the view from here for a while, we went inside through the balcony door.
Kapıyı açtık, mahzen gibiydi. Ve küçücüktü. Bir kişi zor sığıyordu. Girip girmeme arasında kararsız kaldık, yanlış kapı olduğunu düşündük. Ayrıca çok ürkütücü geldi.🙂 Başka bir kişi, evet orası oradan çıkacaksınız deyince biraz çekinerek girdik. Böyle birşey gerçekten beklemiyordum. Sanki caminin minaresine çıkar gibi. Merdiven döne döne yukarı çıkıyordu. Yukarıdan gelenler bizim çıkmamızı bekledi. Dediğim gibi iki kişi asla sığamazdı. Nihayet gün ışığını gördüm ve rahatladım. Bu dar dönen merdivenlerden çıkınca üst katın balkonu varmış. Oraya çıktık. Manzara çok güzeldi. Boğaz manzarası ve tramvay durakları,vapur istasyonu, meşhur balık ekmek yapan mekanlar ayaklarının altında kalıyordu. Buradan manzaraya biraz baktıktan sonra balkon kapısından içeriye girdik.
The inside of the mosque was colourful. No part of the wall was left blank. Motifs were drawn everywhere. Many different motifs, each motif in a different colour. I was confused even while watching and trying to understand. I wondered if the people who drew and painted these motifs were not confused. The patterns of the domes are common, but the main dome and the other domes have different colours. Or there is a difference in tone. I likened the plan of the building to Sultan Ahmet mosque because it has many domes and many windows. I took photos from where I was sitting because it was time for prayer and I didn't want to disturb people. That's why I was able to take photos of the upper parts but not much of the lower parts. So I left after my prayer. I took another look at the mosque from the outside. It looked really big. Since I liked this colourful structure very much, I leave its location for you. I recommend you to visit it if you are on your way.

Caminin içi rengarenkdi. Duvarın hiçbir yeri boş bırakılmamış. Her yer motif çizilmiş. Birbirinden farklı bir sürü motif, her motif ayrı renge bürünmüş. Benim izlerken, anlamaya çalışırken bile kafam karıştı. Bu motifleri çizip boyayanların kafası karışmadı mı acaba, diye düşündüm. Kubbelerin desenleri ortak ama ana kubbeyle diğer kubbelerin rengi ayrılıyor. Veya ton farklılığı var. Yapının planını çok kubbeli ve camları çok olmasından dolayı Sultan Ahmet camiye benzettim. Namaz vakti olduğundan insanları rahatsız etmemek için oturduğum yerden fotoğraf çektim. Bu yüzden üst kısımları çekebildim aşağı kısımları çok çekemedim. Bende ibadetimi yaptıktan sonra çıktım. Dışarıdan camiye bir kere daha baktım. Gerçekten çok büyük görünüyordu. Bu rengarenk yapı çok hoşuma gittiği için sizlere de konumunu bırakıyorum.
