We begin today from the Eastern Europe, the former USSR to be precise [The establishment of the USSR]. On this day in 1922, 15 Republics joined to form what was the known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). It has its headquarters in Moscow. By landmass, it constituted the largest country in the world until when it was dissolved in 1991.
From the former USSR, we move over to Iraq [the execution of Saddam Hussein]. Do you also know that on this day in 2006, the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was executed after he was convicted of crimes against humanity.
From Iraq, we move over to the United States of America [the birthday of LeBron James]. Now, on this day in 1984, LeBron James, the acclaimed American basketball superstar was born in Akron, Ohio, U.S.A. Happy birthday 🎂 to him.
From the United States of America, we move over to the world of golf [the birthday of Tiger Woods]. Do you know that on this day in 1976, the American born golf superstar Tiger Woods whose original name was Eldrick Woods was born in Cypress, California, U.S.A.
From the world of golf, we move over to Japan [the birthday of Tōjō Hideki]. Do you know that on this day in 1884, Tōjō Hideki the Prime Minister of Japan from 1941 – 1944 was born in Tokyo, Japan.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from India [the posthumous birthday 🎂 of Liu Xiaobo]. Do you know that on this day in 1955, Bill English, the New Zealand politician who became Prime Minister of New Zealand from 2016 - 2017 following the resignation of three time Prime Minister ( John Key) in 2016 was born in Lumsden, New Zealand.
