Greetings ASEAN Hivers, this week's challenge is all about interesting facts, particularly ones from your country, village, or district that might pique our interest.

šØāš» Week #136 š©āš»
December 2nd ā”ļø December 9th, 2024Ā Ā Ā No matter where we live there is always something interesting about our area. In the USA, I grew up on a popcorn farm only 100 meters from Orville Redenbacher's house, and although most of my Southeast Asian folk probably don't know who he is, most Americans know him as the face of popcorn, a legit celebrity. Whether it be historical battles, geography, culture, just about anything you feel might interest your fellow ASEAN Hivers, I welcome it.
Ā Ā Ā Perhaps one of you lives near an "oldest," "biggest," or "best" something that most tourists and visitors never get to see, those are the kind of facts that are fun to learn. Of course photography is an integral part of a good post, so hopefully things are local enough for you to get out and snap some relevant pictures too. Sorry fo r this challenge post coming late, I happen to be in Phnom Penh now with my wife for a US Embassy meeting.

Ā Ā Ā This challenge reminded me how awesome street art is and also that my Cambodian village in the middle of nowhere lacks it entirely. But that's fine because the entries from you ASEAN Hivers satisfied my street art and graffiti craving. The following posts range from Vietnam to the Philippines, and contain some very different styles, so please explore if you feel compelled......

The street art in Da Nang tends to be quite terrible and talentless done by hacks who are simply vandalizing the spaces that they do not have permission to do their trade on. I have written quite a lot about how I really enjoy street art, especially spray paint work. Much of what is done here in Da Nang that is nice looking street art is actually done with brushes, which still looks nice but in my mind it kind of takes the urban look out of it. I think that spray work is much more authentic.

Last January 2018, my friend and I went on a budget travel in Baguio City. This city is on a mountain and people go here primarily for its cool weather, rich culture, pine trees, local foods and strawberries. The Benguet province where Baguio City is at has a very rich culture and history. Tribes do their best to keep their culture alive despite the fast modernization of the world by also expressing it through arts and wood crafts. And one of the reasons why they are thriving 'till this day is through the support of the locals and tourists.

Happy new week @asean.hive family first Monday of the month. It's like we've been refreshed up. December is the season we should be most thankful and happy. Yesterday I asked God; Jesus can I take a break from everything? I'm really tired. I was sleepy like an oil yesterday after my husband left for work. I just want to sleep and sleep and rest my mind.
