Hello to everyone. The subject of my content today; It will create the title "Everything That Smells Nostalgia" created by the Cch (Camping Club Hive) community. Before I start my content, I want to say a few things. When I saw such a competition, it caught my attention. Because I value everything that has nostalgic and historical value. Therefore, I wanted to participate in this competition. Finding nostalgic products was not difficult at all. I went to my grandfather's house, which he did not use, and came across many excellent works. Thank you to the community leader who organized this contest. @Visionaer3003
First of all, I want to start with the crib you see in the picture. Because the value of this crib is priceless. When I asked my grandfather, he said that this cradle was first used when he was a baby, and then my father and uncles used it. My grandfather is approximately 90 years old. Therefore, this crib you see in the picture is at least 90 years old. It was designed and made very well according to the conditions of that time. After examining it a little, I came to the conclusion that it was completely handmade. Probably, spruce wood was preferred in its construction. There is a special beauty in the decorations in the crib. Except for a few places in the crib, there is no visible wear or breakage. This shows how solid the cradle was made. In the cradle, the place where the baby is laid is flexible, so that the baby can swing easily, and it can move with a small push. It's really interesting that they think about this detail as well. It is not very possible to see such cribs being used today. With the advancement of technology, more practical products have emerged.
But how healthy are we to ourselves? We have to ask the question.
The name of the next nostalgic product is “Dibek”. Many of you may be unfamiliar with this work, so it would be more appropriate for me to talk about the purpose of use first. Dibek helps crumble products such as walnuts and corn. Especially walnuts are used a lot. After the walnuts are cracked, their shells are removed and the inner part is thrown into the pit. It is crushed into small pieces by hitting it with its stone. We can actually compare this product to the blender used today, albeit partially. I think this analogy explains it better. I remember when I was little, my mother would crush the walnuts in a mortar and then mix them with molasses and serve them for breakfast. How healthy is that? Now I want to talk about its features. Walnut wood was preferred in the construction of this nostalgic product because it is strong. The middle part is made thin so that it can be grasped well, so the walnut crumbling process is reduced to the most comfortable level. The stone you see inside was specially found and shaped. The stone is not very heavy, so it does not tire the wrist.
Next is a completely different nostalgic piece. "Kettle" However, we call this teapot the black teapot. Because the outside of the tea has turned black as the tea is constantly brewed on embers in a wood fire. So why wood fire? In fact, it is not difficult to find the answer when we think about it. Since there was no electricity in ancient times, fire was a source of both heat and light. Therefore, since there was no electricity, teapots were placed near the fire. It is normal for it to turn black after a while. The black teapot you see in the picture is about 50 years old. From that day to this day, it has survived without losing its shape and originality. In addition to the use of these teapots at home; When people went to work in the field or garden, they would take them with them at lunch time, and they would brew tea from the same teapot. How beautiful isn't it? Now we can say that these black teapots have been replaced by a samovar. However, it is still used today, albeit to a lesser extent. When I go for a trip with my friends, it's easy to carry and because of its taste I will definitely take the black teapot with me. As I said, the pleasure of drinking tea in these teapots is completely different. I would definitely recommend it if you come across it.
My new nostalgia work “Basket”. However, this basket you see has different features than other baskets. In the past, plastic etc. Since there is no use of baskets, people have found the solution in the basket made entirely of wood, which you can see in the picture. Now I want to talk a little bit about its construction. This basket is made entirely of willow wood. The purpose of the willow tree is that its branches are thin and flexible. In this way, you can rotate the branches in the consistency you want, a little thick branch is fixed to five or six different parts of it at intervals. It is then surrounded by thin branches. Since it is completely wood, it is a laborious task to carry it as it is. In these baskets, especially at harvest times; Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, grapes, plums, etc. fruits and vegetables were brought to the houses. When the revenue was collected, baskets were carried by mules and donkeys where manpower was not enough. In addition, these baskets are very delicate. When even a single branch came out, it would affect the whole basket and it was equally difficult to repair. I think the material and moral value of such a troublesome basket cannot be questioned.
The next work that I will introduce is “Güp” This image officially reminds us of a work of art. Although it seems easy to make when we look at it, it was created as a result of long efforts. Such a product was created by using different soils. After the soil is mixed with water and rested for a while, it is shaped. Then the outer part is covered with small stones to make it strong. It is covered with earth mortar again. After waiting for a while, the product becomes ready for use. Now I want to talk a little about the purpose of use. The molasses boiled was poured into this product so that it would not spoil. It was stored in a room where sunlight did not enter, and it was covered with wooden boards to prevent it from getting air. Thus, fresh molasses was available all winter long. This product, which is quite heavy, is not used today. At least it is not used for the purpose I mentioned because technology has improved and modern machines have emerged.
The name of the work I will be promoting is “Ebrik, Bucket” Today, the use of jugs continues in rural areas, more precisely in houses where stoves are used. When you go to a house with a stove, you are more likely to see the boiler. Because the usage area is wide. There is hot water almost every hour, and it also keeps the house moist by removing the dryness, thus protecting us from a possible disease. However, today's jugs are not healthy because they are light and made of aluminum. Now, I would like to talk about the jug and pitcher used in the past years that you can see in the picture. These jugs are usually made of copper and are heavy. Therefore, it is healthier. When we look at it, it is understood that it was made by completely natural means, not a factory product. The small red ewer in the picture is usually placed on sinks and others on stoves. When I see these boxes, I always think of my grandfather. When he was going to make ablution, he would take one from the stove and make his ablution warmly.
The name of the next work is “Screw Griddle”. This product, which is made entirely of wood and rope, was used during the harvest times of crops and barley. The exterior is made using poplar wood. First, it is made into two small wooden pieces. Then, the boards were shaped to stretch to the required extent and kept that way for a certain period of time. After reaching the consistency, these two pieces of wood were tied together with a rope so that the outer part was ready. The inner part is knitted from strong threads. However, this knitting was not done randomly, but according to a certain order. After the knitting process is finished, it is now ready for use. The resulting revenue is poured into this product piece by piece, and only revenue passes through this sieve, and different foreign materials (such as stones) remain on the sieve. Thus, a healthy process is realized. Its use continues today, albeit to a limited extent. This work has been replaced by the threshing machine "patho".
I end my content here. I hope that will be useful. I wish success to all friends who participated in this special competition. Stay with love.
