So I've had friends come up to me and ask me about crypto this year. Without me even saying anything. Like straight up come out and be all like, so I have $500 to invest, what should I put it on?
It's an interesting swing. We've went from people outright calling the cryptosphere a big scam, to a lot of my very adult and business-minded friends all having investments in something or other. I had a message from an old school friend that's now a teacher a couple of days ago; she bought $2000 worth of bitcoin last year.
And it's weird. Because I've been talking about this stuff since I found it way back in the beginning of 2014. I joined Bitcoin at the tail end of the 2014 bull market when btc was making the long journey back down to the low hundreds. I think it peaked at just about $1000, and feel to about $200. I remember really getting excited and telling all of my friends at work and at home what I've just found -- and they thought I was quite loopy.
Guess I'm the one laughing now hah.
But we always said this would happen. Crypto eventually would get to a point that it just can't be ignored. It would get too big. The elites ignored it for too long, thought Bitcoin would just disappear if they ignored it for long enough, but eventually they couldn't, and they were forced into a situation of join it or lose out.
There's no denying that Bitcoin is an institutional coin now. Some of the biggest holders of that token are more than likely some of the biggest organizations and global shadow firms known to man. We are but pawns again. I am quite positive even governments have been transacting in Bitcoin for a long time too.
And we're slowly going mainstream. With every passing bull I'll have more people come to me and ask me about this new fangled thing cryptocurrency it is and why is it so appealing and should they buy some.
The problem is, is that not many of them will do their research. The first thing I did before I bought my first ever piece of crypto was sit down and try and discover what it was all about, why it's so valuable, and why it's called the freedom token. As soon as I mention that is solves the Byzantine Generals Problem their eyes glaze over and I'm like okay, just trust me.
Sometimes not everyone gets interested with game theory, or even understands why game theory is needed.
So with this knowledge now, and seeing that my friends are talking to me about it before the bull market is even here, this means that what we're in for over the next 2 years is a crazy ride. We'll go all the way up the hill and travel nine tenths the way back down again. It's going to be insane and I'm probably going to love every last minute of it.
I hope you are too!
