Our mobile phones have become part of our lives. I will say that our mobile phones have become our needs and not our wants. Again, phones have disadvantages and advantages.
the world is becoming more of digital world since the introduction of phone in our generation communication have really been easy for us. Phones are very important; they have really made life very easy for people. Phones are one thing that society can't do without; students need gadgets to make learning easy for them. Children who are born into a digital world are more advanced when it comes to using technology; kids are more advanced. Of course, phones are important and useful in school because they make studies very easy. No matter how important phones can be, they also have their own disadvantages when it comes to students using them in the classroom. I am not in support of students using phones in the classroom.
Should the use of phones by students be allowed in school during classes and tests?
I am not in support of students using mobile phones during classes. There is a need to ban the use of phones during school hours; it will cause failure in the academic performance of the student, such as:
Distracting: Using a phone in the classroom will distract the attention of the students; they will focus on their phones and neglect the reason why they are sent to school. They can never concentrate on their studies again because, as they are in class, many notifications will keep pulling in their phones. There was a day I was scrolling through my TikTok handle, and I saw a student who was live on TikTok. I observed that the teacher was teaching in class, but she was online. She didn't care what the teacher was saying; at that moment, all her attention was on TikTok. If students are allowed to study with their mobile phones, it will reduce productivity in the students. It will result in failure in academic performance. Students will not focus on their studies again.
Cheating: Having a cellphone during tests and exams will result in academic dishonesty. The student will not be reading their book again; they will depend on entering the examination hall or writing tests with their phone. If phones are allowed in the classroom, performance in academics will reduce because no student will like to pass the stress of
Coming to the fact if it will make things easier for the students in the long run?
What will be the long-run effect? Of course there should be an effect of allowing students to use mobile phones in the classroom; it will affect the academic performance of the students. They will pay little or no interest to their teachers in the classroom. Students using phones will cause a lot of damage to the students, which may result in phone addiction, cyberbullying, and cheating.
I understand the fact that a phone is important to a student; it helps in their academics. If they have it, the student should use the phone, and there should be restrictions and guidance on what the student does with the phone.
