Chaos Overdrive

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about how insane life can be, and how it's difficult to keep up with it!

Chaos Overdrive

Running around insane.. when we do it, it sucks but we do what we gotta do!

There are some times in our lives where things are just FUCKING chaotic as hell. You barely feel like you can breathe, and that's what we are going through right now.

There thankfully aren't the most insane circumstances, but for us this is definitely one of the most difficult times we've had to deal with in a long time, if ever. There are just all kinds of things going on at once, at such a rapid pace that it's exhausting just keeping up to date with it all. This doesn't even mention anything about the world outside our own home hahaha. It's fucked..

The days are flying by these past few months, and I think that's likely just what happens when you are an adult with a family. There are constantly things to do, things to shuffle around, things to clean. There is such a small amount of organized chaos that it's insane anything gets done. The really important thing though is that we've learned to adapt and overcome as much as we can.

I am certainly one to enjoy being busy, but this is a level of busy and hectic that I've not dealt with much before. It's both exhausting, fascinating, exhilarating and stressful at the same time. That's a lot of fucking emotions all rolled up into one damn ball hahaha. I guess part of the good thing is that I can laugh a little bit.. because otherwise I feel like I would cry or go insane.

The world is one heck of a place. We live in such an amazing time in terms of science, technology, trade, and so many other things. With those certainly come all kinds of caveats and issues, with each one having their own lessons that we've needed to learn here and there. It's a pretty chaotic ball called life that's for sure!

I have signed up for some of it unfortunately through work. All of these life complications are just on the personal side, and then you add work stresses ontop of that. I think that's what some people don't quite understand and act accordingly. The regular life challenges are one thing, then adding insane work demands ontop of that is a recipe for some chaotic shit.

I think one of the things I am really grateful for is the recent changes I've been making to get greater control over my body and my mind. Without those tools, things would be a hell of a lot worse that's for sure. I know that those are incredibly delicate and precious, so we have to make sure that we foster those as much as we can.

I certainly covered a lot of topics on this one.. but I am frazzled as hell hahaha especially with the nights latest developments. I needed to get some cathartic writing done!

The best thing that help with chaos for me is meditation.

Yeah I need to figure out ways in which to get into meditation! I think my challenge is the time I need to spend doing it and figuring it out.

Jiddu Krishnamurthi is one of the best places to start. I have been meditating since childhood and I have read many books and been in many meditation sessions (mainly Theravada Buddhist). When I hear of any content on meditation from the west, I am often disappointed.

There are many layers to meditation and it is presented as something one could do while,

  • Standing
  • Sitting
  • Lying down
  • Moving

In other words, you could meditate anywhere at any time. One of the simplest places to start is concentrating on your breath. This is the simplest type of meditation and it is called "Anapanasati". There are reasons to call it the best type of mediation as it is said that all Buddhas practice Anapanasati before attaining enlightenment.

Even while you are going though everyday tasks, you could regularly refocus your attention on your inhaling and exhaling to improve your presence and calmness of the mind. This does not mean you intentionally control your breathing. Anapanasati is about having the awareness of your inhaling and exhaling. There is nothing to be added or removed to the process. In a sense I could say that I have complexly taught this entire branch of meditation in this short comment.

sati means mindfulness; ānāpāna refers to inhalation and exhalation
