What I see: A man standing on top of a high mountain, above a sea of clouds, looking at the sun describing a spiral as it sets, whipping the fog up around it.
What I feel: I was reminded of the story of Charles Lee Mallory in 1924 ... it is seen that he may have summitted Mt. Everest first, but never made back ... but he still would have seen the highest view in the world, and after that, gone off into the night.
I'm sometimes told, “Don't encourage men to go do that through your art!”
I ignore those who don't get it. I'm using my art to deal with my father's death.
I like to think he scaled Mt. Himmel, and, his rescue work done, passed through the Sunset Gate that evening.
