So I had a bit of brain fart and bought a garden heater just over a week ago. Before anyone says anything, no, I didn't look at the height of the damn thing. Anyway, when it arrived, I started to put it together, and it became apparent I was building the tower of Babel! Fortunately, the wife was at work; however, my daughter kindly grassed me up by texting her so that when the missus came home, I could tell by the look of thunder on her face I was in the doggy doo doo.
Facebook, as I'm sure many of you know, has a marketplace where you can sell things, I know it's not the best, but tbh I need someone local given the size of the thing. The heater cost over £200, so I figured £160 was a fair price. I put in the advert Collection Only that it is Brand New I also put that It does not come with a Gas Bottle, oh and the pointless No Offers. So far, I've had seven messages:
Jackie: [Within 10 minutes of the ad going live] "Is this still available?"
Lisa: [Within 17 minutes of the ad going live] "Is this still available?"
Derek: [Within 38 minutes of the ad going live] "Is this still available?"
To all three, I responded "Yes", none of them have contacted me back?
Ashley: "Why are you selling it?"
Which I suppose is a fair enough question. I was economical with the truth and just said the wife didn't like it. Five days later and still no response.
Laura: "How much will it cost to deliver to ......."
What part of Collection Only did you not understand?
Linzi: "Can I see it working?"
What part of No Gas bottle did you not understand? OK, you might think I have another heater, but even so, if I fire it up, it's not New, is it? 🤦♂️
Sarah: "Will you take £100 for it?"
Let me think? Oh yeah, No Offers. 🤷♂️
I have in fact dropped it to £140 now however a little bird tells me that the vast majority on Facebook Marketplace is looking for bargains to resell on eBay, which is where I intend to put it over the weekend. Still, I have to say I'm so glad I don't work in retail or sell to the general public because they're enough to make you scream or buy an AK47!
