Whew! What a weekend!!
Quick backstory: I became a "grandma" at 32 years of age, when my eldest stepson's wife gave birth to twin girls.
Thirteen years ago! How the time flies!!
A couple weeks ago the girls approached me with "Gigi, we want a Vampire Diaries themed birthday, and we want you to do it!"
Of course I said yes, how could I say no to those cute, pleading faces? I mean, how hard could it be?
Hahahaaa! Famous last words, destined to be eaten!
Though it really wasn't so much hard as it was time consuming and a wee bit expensive 🤯
But the way I see it, this is probably the last year that they would even want their Gigi's involvement.
Where they are still more kids than young adults... (Kudos to their parents for encouraging and allowing their childhood to extend. So many are growing up way too fast)
The last year of pinatas, of games like red light green light and kiddish party favors.
The last year where their friend guest list will be almost all girls... (the last year they'll associate boys with cooties 😆)
So I secured a spot at the lake, made a list, added to the list, checked it twice, and recruited help from mama dreemit to make it all come together :)
(The girls joined cheerleading this year, and they thought it was an excellent idea to get their Aunt Zoe up in the air and drop her...I have never seen my son Ethan run so fast in my life, with images of his sister cracking her head on the ground no doubt, he jumped in to catch the fall 🤣)
And just when I thought the day was over and I could put my exhausted feet up, they begged us for an after hours bonfire at the farm 😆
"What's the point of having glow bracelets unless we're partying until dark" they said.
Difficult to argue with that logic, ha!
We really couldn't have wished for a more beautiful day! It's like the stars all aligned for us :) We've been having more fall-ish weather, with temps dropping into the forties at night- just on Saturday it soared back up to 80, perfect last day of swimming!
Needless to say I begged off from work today for a well earned rest! I have to say, I definitely made it a great day :0)
