Walk with Me to the Rock Formation of Ithaca Falls!

in #wednesdaywalk2 years ago

If you haven't seen the post of the falls itself, you can check it out here

Today I wanted to focus on this cool little spot along the trail!

I'm not entirely sure when people started doing this, but definitely within the past year as it wasn't here last summer.

It's something I would've noticed having been fascinated by a similar set up at Peach Orchard Falls in Hector.

(There's a post about Peach Orchard somewhere in my blog, but until they perfect the search engine on Hive, it's too much work to go scrolling for it :0)

Normally seeing evidence of man inside a beautiful, natural setting kind of irritates me.

But on occasion people manage to do something that works with the surroundings rather than against them.

It's the art of it. One of the few true virtues of humanity in my opinion is creativity.

Whether that be painting/drawing, sculpting, music, literature, etc. it is our contribution and the one way in which we improve or at least enhance this world.

The one way we leave it better than when we arrived here on this plane.

And Graffiti, as long as it's not defacement for the sake of defacement, is definitely a form of art!

Years ago I vacationed in the Thousand Islands with my parents, and while we were there we visited a place called Heart Castle.

The inside of the crumbling structure was covered in graffiti, dating all the way back to the 1930's I believe.

There was something pretty amazing about reading what people scrawled before my parents were born.. By people who are no longer here.

It added to the history of the place, and they even had a spot reserved for new additions- which means somewhere there, my sister- who has been gone 22 years now, had words preserved alongside mine :)

I need to bring something a little more permanent to draw with than a rock one of these days.

#wednesdaywalk is the inspired initiative of @tattoodjay. Normally I would provide a link to his newest post, unfortunately his wife had an accident and broke her shoulder, so he's taking a break:( Please head on over to show your support for a man who betters this community every day.
