Up-close, the monarch butterfly.
Good day friends, @friendlymoose is at again with another #pob photo contest with the emphasis on up-close photos.
Last summer was a banner year for butterflies on the #homestead. The geraniums were like a magnet for them, but the best part was those potted plants sat right on my front porch. What a show we enjoyed as the monarchs flitted around from flower to flower. A #photographer's dream.
Their vibrant color was a sight to see and I think the red geraniums must have been loaded with sweet nectar because the butterflies just sat still as they fed making them easier to capture with my camera. I use a Canon Power Shot SX530 HS WITH A 50X ZOOM.
The first two photos were taken from about ten feet away, I did not crop or enhance them in any way. I was thrilled with the pix, butterflies can be difficult to capture clearly as they are constantly moving about.
This last picture was cropped and color-enhanced, but the clarity is only slightly diminished since the original was so crisp.
I hope all you #photographers out there jump into this fun contest; both pros and amateurs are welcome. #ecency is on board, so why not check it out.
Sending out good wishes to all.
Love y'all.
