"Run Bull Run" Illustration

in #hive-17430111 days ago

Whenever I see pictures of the bull running festival in Pamplona in Spain it always strikes me how terrifying it must be for the animals surrounded by a crowd of noisy, excited people deliberately provoking them. I don't want to see people injured but I am definitely on the bulls' side. Except for the occasional tumble or collision, in this event the animals are not harmed but how many of us would be willing to undergo the harrowing experience if the roles were somehow reversed? Using animals for entertainment like this is compassionless and 'tradition' is a poor excuse to my mind.

This cartoon illustration is my light-hearted take on the event, which I admit I have never actually experienced. I didn't want to complicate things with crowds of people but tried to make it clear who is actually doing the chasing. My favourite bit in this image is the steaming mess left by the frightened bulls. Given that the illustration I posted yesterday also featured animal poo, and not wanting to develop a reputation, I will make sure that the next one does not.

I use Adobe Illustrator to create these pictures. Using vectors makes it very easy to correct anything and I can keep on making changes for ages until it looks right. Sometimes the tinkering stage can last a loooooong time!

Very funny! The looks on the faces of the bulls!!

For something so simple as those eyes I can't believe how long it took me to be happy with them!

You’re a perfectionist and an artist! Your eyes wouldn’t allow for imperfections in your work! 🙀

I really like that you exposed in your drawing this problem of animal abuse. Personally, I am very indignant about this issue.

Thank you. There is so much of it about, I would just like to encourage people to view things from the animal's side.

I had to laugh. Although I have seen a few minutes here or there on the TV or maybe on something on the net, I never watched it that long or read about it enough for it to even cross my mind about the trail of poop that would be left behind. I did think the people running with the had to be nuts, but there is no accounting for what humans will choose to do.

ha ha....I didn't see the phone sticking out the window till I went back after the first part of my comment.
