__________________________________Hello Hivers_____________________________________
The last weeks I had a really busy schedule and didn't have time to sew a lot or post some of my creations. As I told you at my previous post I was experimenting with some old denim jeans that I found and trying to turn them into something fresh and different. I love creating new clothes from scratch, drawing the template, picking the fabric I want but I think I found a new interesting path here with the upcycling methods which is like exploring a total new chapter for me. So as long as I have all those old denim jeans I will keep experimenting with new things and see where it goes.
So today's project is about upcycling a pair of jeans in order to create a crop top. I started by cutting the trouser at the lenght of a short sorts. I wanted to have quite large pieces of fabric for my creation without wasting all the jeans just for a small crop top.
I prepared a quick template for my top, I chose the lenght to be not too short but not too long and started cutting my pieces. I used the serger machine for the frayed ends of every piece separately before start sewing them together.
First step was to sew the two pieces of each bust together.
After that I sewed the main body piece with the two bust pieces. The front side of the main body is one piece.
I folded the edges of the bust and sew them and after that I sewed at the side the front body part with the back parts.
I finished the main body by sewing the hemline. On this project I can say it was much easier to sew everything cause the denim fabric was thin enough and there was no problem with mu machine or the thread.
For the straps I folded them twice in order to be more stable and also hide the thread from thr serger machine. I sewed them at the top of the bust pieces and let them free so as I can tie them at the back of my neck.
Last step of this project was to sew the zipper at the back of the top.
Here are some photos of the result. I also wanted to add this cute skirt than I sewed a year ago when I was studying at my college.
For this project I only used some parts of the denim jean which means I am gonna use the rest for the next one in order to have zero waste from that clothing. I am pretty happy with the result, it is a casual top that can wear everyday and also I love the color of the denim fabric.
That's all from me guys, I hope you enjoyed my post and thank you all for stopping by!
Have a great day!🙂
