Advertisement has evolved over the years, the Internet has made it possible for almost anything to gain the right attention and reach the needed audience without doing so much. The knowledge of this has made advertising become overrated as we now see ads in almost everything online. For someone like me who has refused to subscribe to Netflix or Showmax, or anything that is currently trending I've had to deal with a lot of these ads for the movies I download. For example it was so bad that I got frustrated with the ads and decided not to download the movie I wanted to watch. For every 10 minutes load time there's an ad, for every break in a game, there's an ad, for every video you choose to stream, there's an ad.
As though that isn't enough, the irritating thing about it is how the majority of these ads on third party websites are infested with phishing links. I've had to buy anti-malware software on my PC just to save myself the heartache of thinking too much each time I get redirected. It's usually as though someone is roasting my body when I am in the middle of something only to end up seeing an ad in between. The one that gets under my skin the most are the ones I encounter in video games. I play mobile video games to relax when I'm tensed but then imagine being in the middle of a game you're enjoying and these ads show up. Atimes I feel like throwing away the phone, but then I remember how much it cost me to buy in the first place 😂.
As much as I run ads for a living, the truth is I don't like seeing them as a lot of them are irrelevant. The reason is because a lot of these people running ads do not get their targeting very well and forget there's a column for detailed targeting on ads manager that enables one target demographics and behaviors in order to get the best results. I hate it so much when I see ads that are irrelevant to me. It's okay to find my topic of interest as an ad, but then I tend to find one in every 10 irrelevant ads which can be very annoying. It becomes more annoying when I want to block ads but I need them to either get an area of focus in digital marketing, or access some websites that would not open unless you allow ads.
