From signal #1 raised to #2, surviving two days of heavy rain and strong winds, bought by typhoon Kristine.

As I posted a day ago, there was an incoming typhoon, and we were under signal number 1, yet I wasn't worried. However, contrary to what I expected on Tuesday afternoon as Kristine - the typhoon landed with a strong wind!

The power outrage was restored at six in the morning and interrupted again at noon. I hadn't finished charging all the gadgets, so my little one and I had our afternoon nap. While on the bed, I could hear the roaring sounds of the wind and felt like our roof would be blown away. The baby was literally sleeping in my arms, so I couldn't get up to check what was happening outside.

When he woke up, we peeked at our room's window. The roof where his brother-in-law cooked food using firewood had been blown! The sky was still dark, so I informed his mother-in-law to come early to my house, as she sleeps here at night.

That's all? I thought the night after was scary. I didn't manage to sleep even a blink until 2 A.M. I was hugging my son as he slept because the sounds of the storm startled him. I heard something heavy fall into our roof, followed by a whistling wind. What that a hurricane? 😩

The husband kept chatting, telling me to sleep as we were safe in our house, but I couldn't! That feeling of any time our window glass might be broken due to flying objects or water might pour from the ceiling as our roof was blown!

This is one reason why I was worried. There is a coconut tree full of fruits near our house. Under the pressure and high-velocity winds of the storm, it might fall down on our roof! 🙏 praying it won't!

I felt like I hadn't slept, but maybe I did manage for a few hours. When I woke up, I saw my mother-in-law peeking at the window.

On regular days, I would wake up seeing her room empty, but not today.

Aside from the dirty floor on the porch and doormats blown by the wind, it seemed our house was fine. Even though it was still raining, I went out to check the coconut tree and was glad it was still standing.

Yet I see leaves—not just leaves but the entire one on our roof! So this is what I heard last night!

After a while, due to the strong wind, it was dragged and eventually fell to the ground.

At first, I thought our rain gutter was broken, but I'm thankful it wasn't. It was only clogged due to leaves and other debris.

There was still no power, and I heard some neighbors' roofs were blown away. Some places in the Philippines badly need help and need to be rescued. Even here in Batangas, where I lived, it was flooded. Several posts on Facebook were disheartening.

In our home, this is only my problem. Water from the wall still needs waterproofing. I just put down rags, and I am already good. Thank God, I don't know if ever how I will survive with this baby in my arms.

My problem was that all my power banks' batteries were barely hanging. To conserve energy, as the typhoon lasted for two days, I used candles at night.

One of the gifts I received last 2023 Christmas. Too small that could barely illuminate the table.

So, use this scented candle 🤣. It was like a dinner date with MIL with noodles and pancit canton.

Thanks to all the power banks and rechargeable lamps, Anyway, we survived until the power was restored today!

The sky looks brighter now, and Mr. Sun showed up, but not yet time to be calm as there is still an incoming typhoon Leon. Only now I heard about Fujiwara Effect. but Leon will drag Kristine back in PAR in few days!

As of writing, the sky turns gloomy again! I hope and pray everyone is fine.

The sheer destruction seen in those images is crazy. Hopefully there wasn't too much on your end.

It was minimal here in my area, just on the 3rd day without water supply! 😔

Great to hear that you are safe. But the places in the Bicol region are badly hit by the typhoon.
