Greetings!
Now, you will say, what kind of photo is this?
And where is this happening?
Truth is, one can not see every day a wild animal, such a beautiful stork, in this particular case, to recognize a man, approach him from behind and then stick its head between his legs and start making those clapping noises, so typical for the storks, and all that, just to beg for some treat (special snack for birds).
Cause that is exactly what you see in that picture above.
A wild stork, trusting a guy to the extent to be in that... delicate position :)
Have I got your interest? Stick up with me and I'll tell you where has this all happened.
So this man, he is a passionate ornithologist. His name is Vassilis, so this may give some clues but I won't reveal the exact location yet.
Vassilis is a guy who will always have some interesting stories or shocking facts to share with you. So no matter how many times one travel there, it's always entertaining and good to learn new stuff.
Go there in a business day, if possible.
Less tourists and all the birds are calmer and they could be seen from smaller distance this way.
And the distance to the wild life subjects matter, as you will see from my photos below.
Vassilis makes all his best to bring you to see beautiful birdy scenes.
Yes, the Dalmatian Pelicans are breathtaking. No matter how many times you meet them!
Vassilis may do a little show with the propeller of his small but beautiful wooden boat.
And boom... a magic happens as the most of the birds visible around are cormorants and pelicans, suddenly tens, or hundreds of seagulls arrive at the scene, attracted by the food that Vassilis is bringing closer to the surface with his propeller trick ;)
Well, be prepared to listen to the choir of those happy seagulls.
They will not be afraid of you, or the boat, or Vassilis and they will come very close to you.
I guess now it is the time to reveal this special place. This is the national natural reserve lake of Kerkini, located in Northern Greece.
