Understanding the doctrines of Jesus Christ as was given to Him by the Father is very vital in helping us to obey God wholly. We must know what God wants from us so that we will be able to do what He wants us to do. The doctrines of Jesus Christ are the commandments of God. The Lord Jesus Christ told us that what He said and did were not of His own accord.
Our heart is one of the important aspects in understanding these doctrines. We must come before God with a heart that is capable of receiving and assimilating the doctrines of God. Our hearts must be willing to receive and obey the doctrines of God.
In the teachings of the doctrines, Bro Eli Soriano has explained to us that there are four kinds of hearts. When we come to listen to the doctrines of God, we all come with different types of hearts. Our hearts can be liken to the types of soil Jesus talked about in the parable of the sower.
Matthew 13:3-8 (KJV) And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
The Wayside Heart
The wayside heart is like the wayside soil. Every seed that dropped on the wayside soil was not fruitful. The birds of the air came and picked them up. That is how it is for those who hear the Word of God and then the devil will come and steal away the Word.
The Stony Heart
The stony heart is like the stony ground. It is too hard for the roots of the crops to penetrate. Such a heart is not cultured to bear fruits. It can't withstand temptations. When temptations come, such people easily fall, forgetting the Word of God which they learnt.
The Thorny Heart
The thorny heart is like the ground that is full of thorns. The thorns overgrow the crops and choke them. The Word of God in such hearts cannot bear fruits because there are many things that choke and kill it.
The Good Heart
The good heart is the good ground on which the crops grow and bring forth fruits in multiple folds. Some bear in hundred-folds, some in sixty-folds and some in thirty-folds. We should receive the Word of God like the good ground so that we can bear fruits unto righteousness.
