This is my post for freewriters 2546 prompt a very different sense of humour hosted by @mariannewest
My sister gave me a pumpkin that someone gave her, they had some sort of pins stuck in it for decoration instead of carving it. I told her I would cook it for the dogs. Not knowing how far the pins went in or how clean they were, I did not want to cook it for us to eat,
I could not cut it because my hand was hurting trying to do it so I took it outside and found a box that it fit in, I raised it in the air as high as I could and dropped it in the box.
As I did it Gallagher came to my mind. That man loved to smash food. If you have ever met someone with a very different sense of humour that would be him. He was a man who thought outside of the box. He even made a square record when every other album was round. If you have never heard of him, he was a comic in the 1970s and 80s.
I thought I took a better picture than this but I was pretty aggravated by this point, it was the third time that I spilled the seeds while trying to wash them and they do not want you to pick them back up. They kept slipping back out of my hand and of course, they would spill right where I had been washing them so it was nice and muddy.
Now that I had the seeds picked up and washed and the guts out of the pumpkin I came inside to look up how long I needed to cook it for and what temperature I needed. The first thing I saw was to only cut the pumpkin in half and after cleaning turn both halves inside down. That is not what I did, I smashed and ripped it into how many pieces I could and it will need to cook like that.
My old camping pan is the biggest one I have, I had half in each piece and tried to put them both in the oven, they would not fit so by now my back is hurting so bad and I am getting pissed. I threw it all in one pan and shoved it in the oven!!!! Now I see why people buy canned pumpkin to feed their dogs.
I had to cook it 10 minutes more than they suggested for it to be soft but it is finally done. When it cools I will scoop out the meat and put it in freezer bags for the dogs treat. Maybe I will try putting some in ice cube trays.
