This house was right in the middle of a tiny village that resembled something out of an apocalypse š Every other house was derelict or fallen to the ground. Entry was easy.. straight through the hole where the door was š. Inside I was blown away!
The most beautiful lounge all still in order, as if they'd just got up and walked out.. photos on the side cupboard.. a bike parked against a rotting old chair.. ornaments on the beautiful dresser... a suitcase balancing on a chair.. All packed.. but never left..
Up the stairs on the landing was a sewing machine on its table.. where the lady of the house would sit and make and repair clothes.. jewellery strewn across the dressing table and perfume bottles.. and what looked like a white polecat twisted around the bed sted šš Two beds pushed together where children would sleep I gathered from the size of the room and the small clothing buried in the dust on the floor..
The bathroom was stunning! beautiful ornate cast iron bath with a while tattered and torn dress draped over the chair...
From what I can gather looking through paperwork photographs and identity cards.. The little boy at 18 joined the army and was lost on duty in Normandy. He had 2 sisters and both parents alive at the time.. I can't even imagine the heartache... thankyou for reading my adventure...
