Greetings, everyone, and happy blessed Wednesday. How are you all doing? I hope you all are doing well. I am very happy to share a post here with you all in this community, which is all about making a mini bag for my sewing materials like threads, scissors, shuttle, Wheeler, etc.
These ideas come to my mind when I discover most of my sewing tools get lost just because the bag I use to put them has spoiled, and I need to make a new one.
I remember I had leather that I was supposed to use for my baby when I gave birth, but it was too small for me to use.
Therefore, I choose to make use of it today to make this beautiful mini handbag you all see here.
After sewing the bag, I really fall in love with the outcome, and to tell you the truth, I am thinking of using the bag for my outfit because it is too beautiful.
This is my first time trying to make a bag. I hope I try.
I will still do another one but more beautiful than this for my outfit.
Let's look at the material I use and the steps I follow to make the bag.
Material used
- maroon leather
- sewing machine
- scissors
- measurement tape
- thread
- chalk
- zip etc
To begin the process, I first draw my measurements on the leather with the help of chalk and a ruler. See the photo below.
I first cut the two sides with measurements of 9½ inches by 5 inches.
I then cut the round part of the back, which is 16½ inches by 3 inches. See the photo below.
For the top where I put the zip, I made two cuts with the measurements of 2 inches by 11 inches
I then cut my hand also with the measurements of 12 inches by 1½ inches.
And that is all for the cutting.
Sewing process
I first sew the zip to one part of the leather that I am to use for the zip and then sew on top to make it smooth.
I then sew the remaining part, and here is the outcome of it.
Finally, I put the zip successfully, and the next thing I sewed was to bend the hand of the bag with double line sewing.
I then sew the hand to the top at a zip point with a distance of 2 inches from the center of it. See the photo below.
At the end, where the zip stops, I join the leather I will be using for the round base at both ends. Below is a photo of it.
I then sew one of the sides to it, marking the center and making sure they all meet his mark.
After sewing it, I run a thread on top of it to make it smooth.
I then proceed to join the other side of the bag and sew a top to the side to make it smooth.
Here is the inner part of the bag.
Here is the finished work
I then park my sewing material inside.
Finally, I have my new sewing bag ready.
I am still thinking of making another bag of my sewing material and then using this very one when going out. How do you see it?
Thanks everyone for your time. Have a lovely day
