Flame-throated Warbler (Oreothlypis gutturalis), Costa Rica ENG/SPA

in #hive-1064442 years ago

After several months of going out little and doing almost no photography, I have managed to return to my favorite place in Costa Rica, San Gerardo de Dota. This little paradise located in the mountains of the central south of the country, at more than 2000 meters above sea level.

I have previously published many images of this natural paradise, however, this time I had the opportunity to photograph a species that, although known, I had not been able to capture with my camera.

Flame-throated Warbler (Oreothlypis gutturalis) is a small bird of about 12 centimeters and can be seen alone jumping between branches, or together with several individuals forming mixed flocks.

Its main characteristic is the intense orange color on its chest, in addition to its slate gray color that it has on the feathers on its back and a small black mask on its eyes. The males and females of this species are almost identical.

It is a species that is only found in the high mountains between Panama and Costa Rica between 1400 and 2100 meters above sea level. It moves among the branches in search of worms, insects and spiders and tends to be a territorial species during the breeding season.
