New Tesla Model 3 | Electrifying in every way

in #cars3 months ago

Ahhhh, Tesla! We first got behind the wheel of one in 2017 😮 Since then, it’s been an interesting journey getting behind the wheel of the second one on our channel!

Up until earlier this year, Tesla didn’t have a press fleet in the UK (as they didn't need one, really) and it’s only been since their new UK Headquarters opened in Manchester that we had the opportunity to not only visit them at their new base, but to get up close and personal with some of their models too.

Behold, their new Model 3!
At first glance, the new Tesla Model 3 may look similar to its predecessor, but Tesla has introduced a series of subtle yet impactful design changes that elevate the overall aesthetic. The design tweaks aren’t just about style; they reflect Tesla’s focus on optimizing efficiency, comfort, and driving experience.

Tesla has done away with the more prominent air intake grille, opting for a cleaner, more streamlined fascia, which not only gives the Model 3 a sleeker look but also enhances its aerodynamics, which is crucial for improving range—something Tesla enthusiasts are always looking to maximise. The revised headlights are sharper and more defined, giving the car a futuristic edge.

Moving towards the rear, the taillights have been reimagined with a more angular design that complements the car’s modern, minimalist vibe. The subtle spoiler blends into the trunk, giving it a more cohesive and aerodynamic finish. These changes not only add to the car’s aesthetic appeal but also slightly improve efficiency, allowing the car to slice through the air with even less resistance.

The interior is where Tesla’s minimalist design philosophy truly shines, but don’t mistake minimalism for lack of luxury. With this refresh, Tesla has focused on enhancing comfort, reducing cabin noise, and introducing premium materials that elevate the overall experience.

Tesla has replaced some of the harder plastic surfaces with softer, more premium materials. The new dashboard finish feels more refined, adding a touch of luxury without overwhelming the minimalist cabin. The seats are even more comfortable than before, with improved cushioning and support. They remain fully heated and ventilated, which is especially appreciated during long drives.
One of the standout improvements is the reduction in cabin noise, with more insulation to reduce road and wind noise significantly. This makes it a much quieter car, allowing you to fully enjoy its premium sound system or simply the silence of the electric motor during your drive. Whether you’re on a busy motorway or cruising through the city, the serene cabin enhances the overall driving experience.

The centrepiece of the Model 3’s interior remains the massive 15-inch touchscreen, which controls nearly every function of the car. However, with the new update, Tesla has improved the responsiveness of the screen, making it even more intuitive to use. The interface has received some minor tweaks, making navigation easier, and Tesla has also introduced new software updates that allow for even more customization of the driving experience.

Tesla has always been about performance, and the new Model 3 continues to build on that legacy. Whether you’re looking at the Standard Range model or the Long Range Performance variant, Tesla’s engineering excellence is on full display. With this refresh you will find optimised the aerodynamics and improved the efficiency of its battery systems. As a result, the car boasts an improved range across all models. For the Standard Range Plus, you’re looking at over 300 miles on a single charge, while the Long Range model can deliver over 350 miles. For many drivers, this range is more than enough for both daily commutes and long-distance road trips.

Also, with the latest updates to Tesla’s Supercharger network, you can now charge faster than ever. In just 15-20 minutes, you can add over 150 miles of range, making long-distance driving even more convenient. This is a game-changer for anyone who frequently takes road trips and needs to charge quickly and efficiently.

For those who crave more power, the Performance variant continues to impress. With 0-60 mph times under 3.1 seconds, the acceleration is instantaneous, thanks to the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The handling is razor-sharp, making the Model 3 not just a comfortable commuter but also a fun-to-drive sports car when you want it to be. The improved suspension offers a perfect balance between comfort and sportiness, allowing you to enjoy spirited driving while still maintaining ride quality.

Our first look at the new Model 3 confirms that Tesla remains at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution. With its subtle yet impactful design updates, enhanced interior comfort, and improvements in performance and range, the Model 3 continues to set the standard for what an electric car can and should be. Tesla’s relentless focus on innovation is evident in every detail, from the streamlined design to the advanced driving technologies that inch us closer to a future of fully autonomous vehicles.

Thank you all, and enjoy!

Do you think the actions of Musk are harming the brand? I've heard of individuals and companies moving away from it. He drove me away from Twtr anyway. I'm sure the cars are fine, but having a boss who is a huge troll could be bad for business.

You make a good point there, @steevc - especially after the riots here in the UK...

It's a tough one, and I don't have the answer to it...

These things are never simple. A lot of business people get involved with politics by funding parties, but when they get so vocal it can make customers uncomfortable. At least with electric cars we have plenty of choice, but I know the Teslas are popular. I've heard of people putting stickers on theirs to say they bought before he went so far off the rails.
