Visiting The Paon Bali Cooking Class

in #hive-120586last year

Hello everyone, I would like to share another cooking class than the one in my previous post. The cooking lesson class is available in a village called called Laplapan. The Paon Bali cooking lesson (the name of the cooking lesson) was started by a local lady named Madam Puspa.

Madam Puspa has run her business for a long time, starting it at her own house. Over the years, there were many visitors who joined her cooking lesson in madam Puspa's class. Nowadays, she's very popular and many people come to her half day cooking class.

Her famous cooking class teaches Balinese dishes to travelers from all over the world. I also had a chance to visit her teaching and demonstrating her skill.

The Market Visit

At the beginning of the class, at around 8.30 AM the people who join the cooking class were taken to Ubud morning market. Wayan, one of the cooking class staff, took us into the market for familiarizing the students with various ingredients used for cooking.

Ubud market in Bali.

Wayan explained some ingredients inside the market.

After finishing the market visit, all the students got to the vehicles that transported them to Laplapan Village, where Mrs Puspa live.

The Cooking Lesson

At the back of her house, Mrs Puspa has a special place that function as the classroom. There was a long table where she put all the cooking ingredients to the students in there.

All the students gathered in one side of the table as Mrs Puspa demonstrated the cooking. Some Balinese cooking recipes introduced that day were: jukut urab or mixed vegetables, gado-gado steam veggies in peanut sauce, sate lilit or minced chicken satay, chicken curry. Seemed that the students very interested in their cooking activities.

Madam Puspa had a number of staffs that assist her with the cooking. There were many people or students, and there was quite a lot of food to cook. The idea was the students would have their own cooking as their lunch.

The cooking lesson lasted for one and a half hour, then every body was welcomed to sit down at the dining table while all the staff were preparing the lunch.

Well, if you like cooking, you can try Madam Puspa's cooking lesson (when you come to Bali). You can contact madam Puspa, or you can contact me as well.

What a cool market! The food looks delicious. What does it mean "Gado Gado"? In Portuguese that's "Cattle Cattle". 😆

The best laugh I have today! It means a mix of everything. In this case, mixed of steamed vegetables. Just random mix of everything.

This looks very very delicious and creamy

Yes, it has coconut milk.
