Merry Christmas to all of you.
Today is a special day, as we all meet on this day for our mega annual cricket event, at our ground, to play a match and enjoy some good food. A lot of arrangements are done and this year was special, because we built up a new ground from scratch. Our previous ground was gone in the road expansion, so we demanded help from the Contractors doing the road work for the National highway authorities, local administration, sought help from local politicians, leaders, villagers to help us build this new ground. Even though the initiative started months ago, during election, our guys spiltted in favor of different candidates, bringing uncertainties. However, again two months back, we started a campaign to unite everyone for the good, the sport itself, keeping personal interests away. Everyone was summoned and asked not to discuss anything else, other than how we can bring the ground to a reality. Elections come and go, leaders come and go, but the ground, the spirit, the sports remain forever. So work was again started, with contributions from each of us and then united we stood up again, to bring every possible help to complete the work before December 25th. The road Contractor provided all the help along with all their machinery, trucks, raw materials and also filled the area at no cost to us, which would have easily costed at least three to four hundred thousand rupees(₹) to us. To give you an idea of the magnitude of work, here are some photographs, that showcased the dedication of everyone working to make our dream true.
These are some select few images out of thousands of photos shared in our whatsapp group, to motivate everyone and you can see many of us joined and worked physically as well, whenever possible - yes, that is our generation - no guilt doing our own work. A perfect example of great team work, working day and night, to make the December 25th event success.
The final preparation started couple of weeks back, with T-shirt design, food planning and fees (along with T-shirt size) were collected from everyone, for that. You might have seen my earlier posts on this great event, everyone was so excited for this day, unfortunately a low pressure situation popped up and its raining continuously since yesterday, and the event stands cancelled now.
I purposely plan to stay at my native place during this period, to attend this event, and make my parents happy at the same time. For me its like celebrating the Christmas as well as new year beforehand with them, bringing a lot of sweets, good food and whatever they wish. Mom wanted to eat a specific fish today and I was happy to spend couple of hours in the rain, finding joy for her. We need to be happy with what we have, not everything happens as planned. The event is now planned for Sunday, only if the weather gets better by tomorrow, but we are going to enjoy the rain with a small dinner party with friends tonight.
