Well Sunday has come around once again which means it's time to review the week just gone and think about the one ahead. I've been stuck in a rut for the past 15 years or so, I'm consciously trying to make an effort to get back in track.
First off and before I start waffling too much, @shanibeer recommended a recipe yesterday for cheeseburger mac 'n' cheese. I was at a loss for dinner so shot to the supermarket to get the ingredients. I added a few touches of my own including a dash of Worcester sauce and some breadcrumbs on top. It was absolutely delicious and I get a massive thumbs up from youngest daughter.
It looked great straight out of the oven.
It was even better when it came to my somewhat oversized portion! Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow night. We'll off into Norwich for the day so it'll be a nice quick and easy solution for when we get back.
After all that grub last night I thought it wise to do some exercise. I've been meaning to head to the gym in ages but always seem to have an excuse not to go. Today's was simply that I had a lazy morning and will now spend the afternoon cooking our roast dinner. I did however jump on the exercise bike for a relatively decent interval session lasting 25 minutes. This also gave me a chance to watch some videos on YouTube, but more on that later.
Last week I mentioned that I'd read a book by Andrew Taylors called The Ashes of London. Well this week I worked my way through the second booked called The Fire Court and it was equally as good, if not a little better than the first in the series.
I'm keen to start the third but want to take a break from fiction this time around. This week I've started reading Limitless: Upgrade your brain, learn anything faster and unlock your exceptional life by Jim Kwik.
I struggle to retain information when reading and quite often find myself covering old ground. I hope to learn some new skills to help as I'm also contemplating to start studying again either academically or for a new professional qualification. I mentioned earlier that I watched YouTube when cycling - it was a few of Jim Kwik's videos I watched whilst exercising.
So, that's food and reading covered, what about this challenge. Well I'm terrible at keeping up exercise so the plan is to cycle 100 miles during the month of August. It isn't a great distance but far enough to challenge me after half a year of little activity with the aim of making exercise a habit. Even it it is just a little. I'll also aim to visit the gym twice per week during the same period.
Well that's enough for now. Time to focus on the chicken roast dinner. The wife has bought pigs in blankets and yes, we have Yorkshire Pudding with every roast, not just beef. 🙂
