The News

The Bitcoiners are getting excited as it closes in on $100k. I have some regret that I did not buy in when it was cheap, but that is not worth worrying about. I care more about $HIVE that is still sleeping and around 500th in the charts. I agree with what @revisesociology wrote about most coins being crap. All these 'memecoins' seem pointless and just designed to make money for a few people when they go viral.

Prices from @coingecko

The gap to the 'legacy crapcoin' closed a little, but things have settled down for now.

I am not sure what exciting Hive news I missed this week, but I will look out for the weekly post from @gadrian who finds some nice nuggets.

Friday Follows

  • I mentioned the Hive biker last week and he got more attention with a podium finish. Thanks to @hivetalkproject for the update.
  • Hive musician @yidneth won an award for a film soundtrack she created.
  • I mentioned a new album by drummer @giampaolo19 recently and it is out now. It is really good, so please let him know what you think. You can listen online. We need more top musicians on Hive.

Those mentioned get a share of the post rewards and so does @commentrewarder so that good comments can earn more. I have said it before, but if you are trying to support others on Hive then the beneficiaries feature is a direct way to do it. You may earn a little less, but spreading the rewards helps keep people engaged.

The Dog House

This one is not so much about those who abuse Hive, but features a tool by @oflyhigh that can show who does not want to see your posts. It seems 51 people muted me.

Mutes

A certain account has ten times as many mutes. Can you guess who it could be?

The End

The crypto markets could get even more interesting with the US regime change. No doubt Musk will be trolling people from his platform for extremists. I would hope more people will be leaving it and that some come to Hive. If you know anyone who is looking for a new home then give them some guidance. They can use other platforms too of course, but I am avoiding those run by corporations as they tend to disappoint me eventually. They tend to be guided by money rather than ideals.

Have a great weekend and Hive five!

Wow, 51, you must really be a pain in many asses :))

Well I do try!

Now I'm curious. There are over 500 people who bother to mute someone? Am I one of them? I don't mute that many people

I've muted some annoying accounts. It's mainly the bots that I don't need to see notifications for. I bet a lot of people don't even realise they can mute.

Looks like I am muted by only one person with a negative reputation. I must be too small or not too annoying :)

I'm sure you could piss off a few more :) I've been pretty active and dealt with a few abusers, so I have to expect this. I love that we can track all these things.

Hey @seattlea, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

Thanks for the tool from @oflyhigh. I might've seen it before, but forgot about it. 4 accounts muted me, one of them with negative reputation. I guess that's ok.

I didn't see the post with the podium finish for the biker sponsored by Hive. Well, that is a good exposure, especially if it was televised.

Thanks for sharing everything!

Cheers. We can't see all that goes on as there just isn't time. I'm sure I'll learn more from your latest post.

Hey @gadrian, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

If you like BEER and want to support us please consider voting @louis.witness on HIVE and on HIVE Engine.

I have a feeling BTC is going to toy around with us for a bit before it finally crosses that line. I'm glad someone finally wrote for front end for the mutes. I had my python code that checked for that, but it wasn't quite as user friendly.

What BTC is irrelevant to me directly, but it will have knock-on effects. I think there ought to be more interest in coins with utility and to drive better results for those who have less. Pure self-interest can be toxic.

I think the regime change over the water might mean some good times ahead for crypto. Although that 100K seems hard to break. Maybe when it does it will go crazy onwards!

I will have a look at the mute tool. I used to always like them!

Lol, I checked. It's mostly scammers and folk from blurt that haha muted me 🤣🤣

It's a bit like this. Can't handle the truth 🤣

untitled.gif

If they can't hear it it doesn't exist! 🤣🤣

Haha muted by one person with a reputation of minus 2.5. Wow aren’t they lovely.

It’s a good thing I bought 1 bitcoin in 1992 lol!! I can’t remember when it all started but I’ve got 20000 sats! 9 quid!

I forgot about the mute option. I'll keep it in mind, mainly for bots. I was thinking about the daily report from @commentrewarder Has it some utility to upvote those posts? I mean, giving a daily payout to commentrewarder could improve its work somehow?

I'm not sure of their economics, but they are boosting rewards to people who engage with my posts. It's easier for me than doing it myself.

You may earn a little less, but spreading the rewards helps keep people engaged.

Even though I am also trying Comment Rewarder on some of my posts, this is really not the way on a properly working social network.

On a properly working social network, people are actually there for the content.

They use the platform naturally.

They write a comment, because they are actually interested in the content.

And not because there is a financial incentive to it.

And neither because another person wrote a comment under their posts.

On a properly working social network, no one asks how many comments did you wrote under other people's posts.

Because it does not matter.

What really matters is the real, actual interest in the content.

Which nowadays I very rarely see on the Hive blockchain.

Yeah, we've had this conversation before.

properly working social network

What even is that? This is a form that has only existed for about 20 years. I'd say FB fails as it bombards you with crap and so I hardly use it. I got off Twtr as the new owner made it toxic. Google has shut down several platforms that I used. So I have little trust in corporations in this field.

I get comments that engage with what I post, so I am happy here. Maybe the problem is the content rather than the community.

Hive has plenty of issues though. The community is tiny, so there's not enough consumers for all the creators. I think it's more a scale issue than a concept one.

Rewards are the USP here.

On the whole I am happy on Hive and I hope you can be too.

It sure is crazy to see BTC closing in on 100k. I knew it would happen, and I remember in 2017/2018 when it hit around 17,000. I then thought it was a one off, and this was it (when it went down to around 3-4k). Then... it happened again. Up to around 60k. Now... well... here we go again. I didn't buy too much over time. Seems odd now, of course I wish I did haha

LOL I have been blocked by 3, I copied a bit from one of them, her post reads

"In my 5th year here it's now the second time I feel like quitting. If my content hasn't attracted whales so far it probably never will."

Is that what it is all about? fucking enjoy the hive for what it is.... she sounds like a fame hungry needy cash whore.

Ha! Some people just don't get it.

Obviously lol
