Are you ready for the love month
It has been a custom of mine to pick up an orchid just before or after Valentine's Day.
I do love a bargain and this week, opportunity came a knocking!
I had a busy day on Thursday offline and the weather was glorious.
I had an appointment at the Doctor's surgery in the morning and on the way home, I just popped into to our local mini supermarket to see if they had any whoopsies.
I managed to pick up some half price chocolate eclairs and went to pay.
As much as I like technology, I am not a fan of self serve.
I was brought up with the personal touch, and for me that means paying and checking out with a real person!
As I was waiting I saw this gorgeous blue orchid. Truth be told, I have been eyeing it up.
The normal price is £12, which I think is a fair price as it includes a cute ceramic pot.
I stopped give Mrs T flowers many many years ago. She does not like them fading wilting and dying! Rather she wants a plant as it can grow and live on longer than a few weeks.
We have moved a fair few times over the years, and we have often donated our jungles to friends.
Don't You Just Love a Bargain?
👀Did you see the price?
£12 discounted down to £7.92. It needs some tlc but will be back up in no time.
You might also see on the label "Dyed Orchid" well it was not dying on my patch!
His name?
I call him Bluey!
Meet Bluey!
Fluffed if I know if he is a boy or girl, but he is the type that we get get each year, I think the name is Phalaenopsis Orchid Blue Special, that site does say the common name is Whale watching! I wonder if our resident Silver Blogger orchid expert @bdmillergallery Silver Shadow would concur about the name.
I walk or take public transport everywhere now, so off Bluey I went for the walk home!
Green lights all systems are go!
As I said the weather was a beautiful winter's day in January, the sun was shining and initially there was no wind.
Bluey and the pot were a good 20 inches tall and I was walking the ten minute jaunt back home with him caressed in my arms. Then the wind started to say hello, and the plastic covering was howling.
But with stealth and some trepidation Bluey and I made it home unscathed!
Whilst at home, I received a phone call from the woman at the hospital who is in charge of my biological case, to let me know that she was presenting my case before the hospital board on Friday!
Me took that is a piece of positive news and decided to go back out and purchase a can or two of beer.
This I duly did and wrote about it here BrewDog Scottish Black Heart Beer
Well it is Valentine's Month after all, so the more hearts the better, it does not matter the colour.
I was in such a good mood that I positively flew up murder hill.
The clouds had gone and the sky was blue and I decided on a wee detour and to go visit our viaduct that is a hop skip and a jump from our house.
It is in a dip (no not in crypto but in the ground) and you can still see frost on the ground. This was around 11.33 am.
I was going to include it here, but heck no that can be Wednesday's walking post on worldmappin I think!
The footy is on and I fancy catching the mighty Rangers!
Ah well, don't forget to do something nice for someone today. It is the little things that often puts the biggest smile on someone's face!
I hope you Just Do It and submit an entry for one or both competitions!
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful new month
