Stretches do wonderful works! I am on a nightshift work and I find myself sleepy from time to time due to the excruciating tasks that I do. The downward-facing dog is one of my favorite stretches as it relaxes my upper and lower back.

When I started, I only did a child's pose into cobra (not kidding haha). I did only that, for like 2 minutes per day. My lower back improved tremendously, and I felt so much better only in a couple of days. Sometimes I get out of the routine, but once I get a feeling the problem is coming back, I immediately do at least that single exercise.
