An well experienced evening with the Wild Turkey
Hello there, hope you all are doing very well. @tradersaan is here with the story of two birds called Wild Turkey. In this article, I am going to write about how I find them in my area and what my short experiences are with them.
In the evening today, I have been walking alone thinking about my career on hive and suddenly I have heard a light sound like crook crook just from 10 meter away from me. I have been wandered what that sound is. I probably never heard those sounds before. And then I have slowly approached to the sound and have found two giant hens sitting on a wall next to the road. They are mezmerisingly calm even I keep approaching near them. They have been just rotating their eye balls round with making that peculiar sound. First I thought, they are observing me by doing these and may do harm those who seems danger to them. So I really have been hesitating to go near them. And I have been surveillanced by the owner of the birds from the balcony that I haven't known, after seeing me helpless, she has laughed out and said "ভয় নেই" meaning Not to be scared. So I have been bashful by the activities of both the birds and its owner.
Then she has come down and has told me that those birds don't do any harm to anyone. I have been very excited to touch it and with the help of her, I have managed to tap on the feather of the birds. It is so soft and while I have been touching them, they have felt no offense. By seeing me very enthusiastic in those birds, the owner have started telling me about it in details. This bird is called China Hen in our local but the global name is Wild Turkey which I have known later from google. This birds are cute, cool, calm and are a kind of idiot in an extent as many other animals can make them fool very easily.
These birds you see in the image are male and female. And they have got names by his owner - the name of the male one is Peka and the name of the female one is Peku. How sweet of the owner! And whenever the owner call them by these names, they instantly response which she has shown me. The very surprising thing is that this Peka and Peku can aslo fly, I was amazed by hearing that as their weight is approximately 6kg. Then by the order of the owner, they have flown 5 to meters and they look awesome while they have been flying with such big body.
As you see one of them has a reddish wattles in the throat, this one is male and the faded coloured throat one is female. The owner has let me know that with this red wattle, the male bird seduce the female bird. They do have total four fingers in the leg - three of them are in the front direction and one of them is in the backward direction. They also have beautiful grey or black feathers all over their body except from the head and throat.
These birds are usually find in North America, but the owner of this birds has bought them from a local bird seller. So this two birds you are seeing in the picture are not the original Wild Turkey, they are hybrid. That's why they can servive in Kolkata even in a very hot temperature as now it is 36 degree celcius as of the time I am writing this blog. And this is another reason why these birds have very lower rate in reproduction - probabely once in a year.
This birds are usually for food - both their meat and eggs. The meat of them is very delicious as it is a very popular dish for the eastern tribe of North America. So the commercial value of the Wild Turkey is very high.
After knowing all of this from the owner of the birds, I have asked her if she wants to sell them to me for I want to make a delicious meat though truely I have just wanted to check the lady. And you won't believe me, she has gone mad at me. It's like are you f... kidding me!!! As she has thought I am being fond of this little child like bird of her. And she is asked to sell them so that I can cut their beautiful reddish throat and can make my meal. But later I have told her that it is just a joke apart. Then I have taken these beautiful pictures of them. I also have requested the owner to get her photos with her birds. But she rejects me by saying she doesn't have proper makeup XD.
Well, that's how my today's evening is. It has been a well spent evening.
Thanks if you make it to the end. Feel free to comment what you feel about this bird.
And I will really appreciate if you show some supports by giving me up-votes.
Thanks!!!
