Last night the wind was howling and we had such a wonderful downpour of rain. The wind was so strong that the truck was rocking from side to side at times, which was quite nice to fall asleep to.
I was meant to be joining the gardening group this morning at a friends place, but when I woke up the wind had stopped and the ground was soaked. It was the perfect conditions for burning off some of the Olive branches that were left on the land.
A very Dear friend of mine, recently moved onto the land and she had the exact same thought as me. When I went outside she had already started one fire. So we spend the morning burning, which felt great. We had two huge fires going and managed to be finished before the wind picked up. Which was around midday.
I love creating and feeding fires, the smell for one and also the sheer power that they have. I made sure to have some water nearby just in case, because you can never be too careful when it comes to fires. It felt so good to be clearing up some of the land.
As the fires where starting to die down, I heard the donkey calling in the distance. He is no longer on the land, but on another patch close by. I usually visit him regularly, to see if he has some water and today when I went he had none. Whilst I was with the donkey, my friend looked around and found a puppy that was inside a tiny shed with no water, and living in it's own filth.
So she took him out and we brought him back home with us. I have wrote quite a few times, about the lack of animal welfare in this country that I live in. Recently some laws come where passed, which prohibits animal abuse ( yes it has taken this long), but there is no one to enforce them. So sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands.
My girls of course have fallen in love with him and want to keep him. He is super cute and was so happy to soak up all the love we are giving him. All he wants is to be held.
When we first brought him back he was so thirsty and hungry. It was obvious he had no water in the last couple of days. His poor belly swelled up. I also gave him some food, which we wolfed down. After that he vomited a bit.
I will go into town tomorrow and get some worm treatment for him as I am sure he has some. My girls have made a bed for him in a large blue box, with one of their teddies as a companion and he has slept in there already.
Freya our beautiful canine companion is not too sure what to make of him just yet. We have been showering her with lots of love as I don't want her to feel left out. I am curious as to how the night will go, hopefully I will get some sleep!
