What's up friends?!
This is something really cool I stumbled upon today:
Looks like somebody was having fun with chatgpt. But no, this crazy wolf-headed spider thing is real 😅
Meet Metagryne bicolumnata, commonly known as the Bunny Harvestman.
It occurs in the Amazon rain forest of eastern Ecuador and as indicated by the common name, it is technically not a true spider.
As seen in the picture above, the species is best known for the two ear-like protrusions and bright yellow spots that look like eyes, making it somewhat of an internet sensation for some years now... Strangely, I first heard about it just today.
The species was first described in 1959 but since then there hasn't been much research on it so our knowledge about it is limited...Including the peculiar looks!
A theory is that it the shape and coloration might make it appear larger to predators but this is only a theory. We really don't know!
There's really not much not else to say about this a wolf headed arachnid.
Usually there aren't any videos for the strange animals I share here on my blog but luckily this one is an exception!
Enjoy:
Cute 🥰 In a creepy kinda way 😅😂
Sidenote, both vids are from the same guy. Give him a sub if you like creepy crawlers, he has some amazing content!
Ok frens! This is it for today, see you soon with more peculiar stuff from mother nature!
