2022 was a remarkable year for my artistic growth. My skill level soared, and I felt a deep sense of pride in how far I had come. However, since then, I sometimes feel like my improvement has slowed to a crawl—so much so that if you were to ask me what I can do now that I couldn’t back then, I might say, "Nothing." Of course, that’s not entirely fair, but the feeling is hard to shake at times.
Originally published on the now-defunct Async, State of Mind was an exploration of my relationship with digital tools and how I could push the boundaries of a random tool to achieve something unique. For this piece, I used a "select and fill tool," a familiar feature for most vector artists, but applied it in an unconventional, abstract way to bring my vision to life.
