There comes a time at least once in our lives that we just lack the motivation and encouragement to do what we have or we have to. In our workplaces, we get burnt out and some of us get mentally burnt out. A few signs I think that show you are burnt out include having no enthusiasm, feeling tired and exhausted, not being able to perform well, having troubling sleeping, among others. What causes one to become burnt out can be very different to each of us.

Not to make this complex and to bring the topic home, we experience burn out on hive. We are in the creative business where we as content creators have to think and have the ability to come out with creative stuff that we are happy with. In our line of work, we can define burn out as creative block or creative fatigue. I have felt at times the inability to publish posts because I have been very unmotivated. Sometimes it is because I am stressed offline which affects my activeness online but sometimes it has nothing to do with stress and I just do not feel that there has been a lot of effort put into what I am publishing.

I want to share some tips on how we can overcome burnt out. I am not an expert in matters like these so I hope readers who chance upon this post not necessarily take my word for it and do what is right for them. Let's get into it.

First and foremost, consider resetting your standards and reviewing your routine. Most of us are victims of setting very high standards for ourselves. Some of us run on the notion of perfection and for the most part it works for them. However, realizing that we are not going to be perfect all the time is a good way to cure your burn out. When you feel unmotivated and burnt out, you should for at least temporarily, change or reset your standards. Once you feel motivated again, then you can return to your normal "perfectionist" routine.

Reviewing your routine works like temporarily changing your standards. If maybe you do the same things everyday, you can consider deleting some things that aren't very important and you can also add some things. Some people don't mind repeating the same routine everyday but some mind and having the same routine for even a month is a massive headache for them.

Another way to help with your burn out is to having fun with what you do. Enjoying what you do goes a long way to telling how effective you are. We can all testify to the fact that when you do not enjoy your work, you just are not super effective. Now, say you are doing what you love but the time comes when you are not as motivated as before. What you can do is to find a way to make that thing you do fun again. You can tone down the seriousness of the work or project you are working out and find a way to have fun with it. You can also indulge yourself in activities that foster creativity.

There are a lot of ways to solve a problem and so when what you are doing is not working, you can find other problem solving methods that are more fun and maybe quite different to what you are used to.

Also, the environments we work in can contribute to our burn out. We work in different environments and it is important we identify how those environments influence our work. Some people thrive in jovial environments while some people thrive in very serious and quite workspaces. So, say at some point in your life where you switch from a quiet workspace to a noisy workspace, you're most likely not going to be as effective as you would like to be. What you can do in a situation like this to probably find a way to getting back to your preferred workspace.

Some of us are very effective in the morning while some are very effective during the nights. So, identify which of these times motivates you the most and work during those times when you are burnt out.

Lastly, seek professional help. Some burn outs cannot be simply cured by changing your routine or taking some time off. In some situations you have to seek professional help. You have to go see a psychologist who will mentally help you to come out of your situation. You can also just talk to a family member or friend who can help you navigate your burn out.

These are a few tips I hope can help you come out of your burn out. Thank you.
