I am pleased to share with you my trumpet performance of "The Impossible Dream", a song from the musical "The Man of La Mancha" (1965) composed by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. This piece of music is in the key of C Major, a bright and optimistic key that reflects idealism. The tempo is moderate, with a predominant constant rhythm and a dynamic with softer moments and more intense others. I love the lyrics, it is a hymn to hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. Many times we set out to achieve a dream that seems impossible, fight against invincible enemies and endure unbearable pain. However, we can be determined to keep going, no matter how difficult the road is. I remember that as a child I read the ingenious gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. They had given it to some cousins, but they never read it. It is a work rich in teachings that can help us be better people and live a fuller and more meaningful life.

Tengo el agrado de compartirles mi performance con la trompeta de «The Impossible Dream», una canción del musical "El hombre de La Mancha" (1965) compuesta por Mitch Leigh y la letra de Joe Darion. Esta pieza musical se encuentra en tonalidad de Do Mayor, una tonalidad luminosa y optimista que refleja idealismo. Today, I want to share my reflection on how important it is to cultivate being a well-rounded musician. I will start by talking about the social aspect this week, and then I will address other aspects that I consider are essential for the personal and professional growth of the musician. It is important to create connections with other people, have a wide network of contacts that provide you with opportunities, collaborations, presentations and record contracts. In the interconnected world of music it is important to find someone who can leverage your career, whether you perform with other musicians, or meet professionals in the sector. It is also important to share your passion and generate community. The musician cannot be isolated from his audience. He must create connection and be present. That reminds me of a talented street musician who played on university buses. He created a special connection with the students, and with the University community. He probably didn't become famous or wealthy, but he accomplished something lasting in the memories of many.

Hoy quiero compartir mi reflexión sobre lo importante que es cultivar el ser un músico integral. Empezaré hablando del aspecto social esta semana, y luego abordaré otros aspectos que considero que son esenciales para el crecimiento personal y profesional del músico. Es importante crear conexiones con otras personas, tener una amplia red de contactos que te brinden oportunidades, colaboraciones, presentaciones y contratos discográficos. En el mundo interconectado de la música es importante conseguir a alguien que apalanque tu carrera, ya sea que te presentes con otros músicos, o que conozcas a profesionales del sector. También es importante compartir tu pasión y generar comunidad. El músico no puede estar aislado de su público. Debe crear conexión y estar presente. Eso me hace recordar a un talentoso músico callejero que tocaba en los buses de la universidad. Él creó una conexión especial con los estudiantes, y con la comunidad Universitaria. Probablemente, no se hizo famoso, ni adinerado, pero logró algo duradero en los recuerdos de muchos.
