Greetings Dear Readers;

Hope you are well.

What a Principle! 'You cannot change others, you can only change yourself.' One which is quite straight forward. It is a principle that has the words we need to steer us in the right direction....because we encounter different opinions everyday.

For example...a situation where two people are coming to a subject, any subject with two different frame of references, which we all do...let's say even opposing opinions...with one seeking to change the other's mind about said subject. If a bit of reasoning, presentation of facts, etc. cannot bring the other person to the same point of view....we step back.

What we can change is our attitude toward the thinking of the other person. Which brings to mind another Principle...'Live and Let Live.'

Shall we give these principles a think?

Interesting and artistics images as always @bleujay friend... And also a text to read and reflect on... In my country we have a saying that goes more or less like this: "Nobody learns from someone else's head" hehehe :)) it's a bit harsh in my opinion... But it helps to understand and take into account the freedom of opinion of each person...

What a pertinent principle for today's environment @bleujay! Every person wants to have free thinking and be able to form opinions but some people do not respect the thoughts and opinions of others, but instead try to force their own opinions to all those around.

Live and let live is a lifelong mantra of mine <3 Beautiful white lily, a symbol of peace and calm, perfect for today~!

We are so much more powerful than we think! Especially when we approach all things and all others with love and compassion. If we can do this, even though the current conversation does not bring us seeing eye to eye, percolating thought on both parts can shift perspectives and bring us closer together. It seems, lately, that only one thought is allowed in many circles. This is false! Live and let live indeed. Let's not let that maxim fall to the wayside!

Well indeed, when you discuss you have your own opinion, the other person has his own and often no one changes his mind... Or if someone has some character, it won't change most likely, you need to change,

Indeed if we have strength of character and a reason to believe we are correct in our thinking ...it most likely is not going to change.

Another option...if we are willing to look at our belief/opinion then we have an opportunity to either have a better understanding of why we have that opinion....or reject it/change our mind.

Beautiful Lily shots. I haven't seen a lily before, except maybe in books or documentaries, but it's my first close-up view, and your device does a decent job. I love the black and white version of the shot as well.

True, most of the time we cannot change people. I think it's either GOD changes a person or they get to learn the hard way through difficult experiences

Well I'm a testament. I learned a lot the hard and irreparable way and sometimes I wish I didn't have to learn this way. I didn't think anyone could have changed me, but then learning the hard way changed me.

You have proposed an interesting principle for consideration today... I believe there is some error in this in the form of a starting point, for example, when raising our children we try to achieve some more or less specific result, for example, by eradicating some habits... some children bite their nails lol, or do not understand how to behave in this or that situation, therefore, without trying to change something in them, we will get what we get.

As for the world of the family abroad, then yes, only those who want it, who are ready for it consciously, can change, as evidenced even by the fact that Jesus Christ changed the thinking of people, only those who wanted it with all their heart and soul. Only the shell of the demons, who went on their last journey in the body of pigs, involuntarily changed :)

Ah yes...this Principle should definitely have come with a caveat that this idea does not apply to children, those who are not yet adults in terms of age. Parents have a responsibility that is all about changing the wee minds through instruction of all kinds.

Are we not most thankful for the Gospel message and the Bible doctrines that forever change one's life....through our personal choice to believe.

Do you know what @bleujay out of all the principals you have covered on your blog this post has been the one that has challenged me the most, and even though I agree with you when it comes to your principals and there is no doubt you and I are on the same page most of the time, this latest principal I can not fully embrace and agree with. Allow me to explain.

I truly believe that while it is true we can change ourselves if we have the desire and will to do so I also believe that we can change others. But I would say that we can not change most people, but for a few we do have the power to change their thinking and in so doing their behaviour. After all if we could never influence other peoples' minds from time to time then there would be little hope for the human race.

I'm sure you yourself on the rare occasion have been persuaded by someone's powerful argument to change your position on a certain topic, no? Perhaps you haven't but I know that I have.

People can change people. It does happen. Sometimes it is a minor influence other times it is more pronounced and leads to a significant change in that person's life. While most people are stubborn and inflexible, many are not.

What I found most interesting about your post is the sentence in which you say What we can change is our attitude toward the thinking of the other person. That gave me something to think about for sure. Let's be honest most of the time we can not change peoples' opinions but if we adapt our thinking about their thinking we might just be able to get through to them and with perseverance eventually change their thinking.

I hope that makes sense.

Beautiful images as always I can almost smell the pollen, such beautiful pictures and flowers as always so wonderful!

I believe everybody is universally different, no body will ever agree with every opinion you have, way you may think or act and so on. It's hard to expect someone to be the way YOU want them to be, if they do not meet your expectations but that is life. We are all different in our own ways opinions, personalities and so on!
