Bro Eli's teaching on "Depression and anxiety — how to overcome these biblically"

Depression and anxiety are two critical issues that must be dealt as a believer because it affects one’s intimacy with God. Just to let us know - Bro Eli began with a strong statement “God cares for us more than we can care for ourselves.”

In Bro Eli’s admonition we should not be preoccupied by death, rather, preoccupied by what is coming forth after death which gives us peace in our heart. Our generation seeks miracle to happen – where God can change their story. However, the old century Christians were ready to die to what they believed like Apostles in the bible. Characters like Job did not suffer depression, he accepted his fate wholeheartedly; the situation was terrible to an extent the wife asked him to curse God and die - Job 2:9-10.

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. source

Job saw his wife as a foolish one due to her respond to her situation; unknown to her Job’s eyes were fixed on God. In Job 1:21, we understand that we should not put the blame on God, see Him as a compassionate God.

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. source

Job and David did not suffer depression, according to Bro Eli they were enduring the trials, the pains of the flesh and temptations; they trusted God even to the point of their death. With 1 Peter 5:7, Bro Eli related it with how he cares for his kids, how much more our God who says we should bring all anxiety to Him.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. source

Conclusively, God knows all we go through, and He is ready to help us. He cares for us more we do care for ourselves.
