Do have any problems with melee and range-based attacks against your team?
Are you looking for the next interesting idea on how to improve your battle statistics?
Do you want to understand why your cards attacks just keep missing your opponent?
Then this article is for you!
A lot of people might not know this, so let´s focus on the formula to calculate Hit and Miss chances:
(Speed Difference x 10%) + 25% (if the affected monster has dodge) + 25% (if the affected monster has flying and the attacker does not have flying and the affected monster has not been affected by Snare) + 15% (if there is blind) = Evade Chance
It might not seem like much, but one or two missed attacks can already decide the battle.
This post will introduce you to the power of the much neglected "blind" and "dodge" abilities and other factors in Melee and ranged battles with a special focus on Silver League battles.
Ability Description
All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have an increased chance of missing their target (+15% chance of evading)
Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks (+25% Dodge vs melee/ranged)
Has an increased chance (+25%) of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability
Example for evasion mechanics
Attacker
Defender
The probability for Grum to miss is the following:
Speed
6-1 = 5 Speed Difference = 50% chance to miss
Flying ability of the Defender
25% chance to miss
Dodge ability of the Defender
25% chance to miss
--> Total chance to miss 50+25+25=100%
So you can see that Grum will never even hit Phantom even once, which showcases the importance of these abilities in melee and ranged battles.
Blind
There is a decent selection of cards with the Blind ability:
But there is only one monster card and one legendary summoner with Blind that can be played within Silver League rules and both are part of the Water Splinter:
You can find a battle that shows the strength of Blind here
Dodge
There is also a decent selection of cards with the Dodge ability:
But again, there is only a very selected few that can be played within the Silver League limitations:
Line-Up recommendation
The best Anti Melee and Anti Ranged team within Silver League rules depending on the Battle Mana Cap would therefore focus on the Water Splinter.
It would look something likes this or with Phantom at the end depending on your enemy expectations:
Name | Level | Mana cost | USD cost |
---|---|---|---|
Keya Frendul | Level 4 | 4 | 100$ |
Serpent of Eld | Level 1 | 7 | 5$ |
Phantom of the Abyss | Level 1 | 10 | 105$ |
Creeping Ooze | Level 1 | 1 | 3$ |
Giant Squid | Level 4 | 5 | 23$ |
This would give you a very strong base set-up of owned cards with a total of 17,20 or 27 Mana for an investment of 131 or 231 USD.
Warning
Aim True
Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target
--> Evasion mechanics do not work as described with this ruleset. Please focus on high damage and high health cards instead!
